Why I Don't Write...

By kaitee - Posted on 12 November 2009

There are many reasons why I don't write as much as I used to, but the most important reason is because of my style of writing.

I write about things that effect me, things that I think about or read about, or things that happen to me or others I know in daily life. I get inspired by all these things and whip out the virtual pen to thrust my feelings into cyberspace.

The thing is, my life just isn't that exciting anymore.

I can count on one hand the amount of friends I have that I have contact with on a regular basis - George, Nicole and Susan. I married George, Nicole is my sister and Susan is dating my brother. See, my life is very sad.

I go to work. I come home. Sometimes I see Nicole and Susan and we eat chocolate or watch a movie. That's the sum total of my pathetic existence right now.

I went back to Brisbane two weeks ago to see some friends and it just drove home the fact that my life is so boring in comparison to what it used to be. Hell, my life is so unexciting that when I saw my ex who I haven't seen in nearly 4 years it was almost the highlight of the whole weekend, although the cringe-worthy moment when he and George shook hands and said hello to each other was particularly painful as I realised that they were the only two people at the party with long hair and beards. I wanted to wear a sign around my neck saying "I've known George 10 years longer, he's Man Zero! No substitutions here!"

When my life becomes a little more interesting I might write some more.  In the meantime I am on the lookout for some office space to lock myself into until my novel is finished.
